teamed up to offer the best Musical Theatre BTEC programme in the
Northwest!
BTEC Level 3 Foundation and Extended Diploma Performing Arts Practice, Musical Theatre.
Our course is taught at Centre Pointe,
Delivered by LEAD Education Performing Arts and funded by SCL.
Centre Pointe Performing Arts College and Manchester Musical Youth have had
much success since they established. The majority of our students have all gone
on to work in a variety of capacities within the professional industry. This is a
direct result of the exceptional training, teaching, support and diligent work
ethos which has been instilled during their time with us. In addition to
professional work, many of our graduates have gone on to a variety of
exceptional Higher Education establishments and Conservatoires to further
their studies.

Alex Ryan Jazz/Commerical Teacher, Centre Pointe Performing Arts College
Jazz/Commerical Teacher, Centre Pointe Performing Arts College
Alex graduated from Merseyside Dance and Drama centre with a Musical Theatre and Dance Diploma. Alex is one of the most talented upcoming young Choreographers/ Dancers to hit the UK and Europe. Alex currently teaches at the top colleges in the northwest training the talent of the future.
His credits include Gok Wan's Fashion Roadshow, BBC, ITV, Lime Pictures, Nike, Adidas, Katy B,
ISTD, ADA, RAD, IDTA Commercial lecturer, LHK Production - Dubai Choreographer, Jammy Productions Cruise Choreographer.
Alex is the creator and owner of #ADAYS which is the newest dance convention to take the U.K. by storm!
Olivia Higham Lyrical Teacher, Centre Pointe Performing Arts College
Olivia is a professional dancer who started dancing from a young age. She went on to train at LIPA where she graduated with a BA(Hons) degree in dance. Since graduating, Olivia has worked for global production companies touring Europe with shows such as 'Musical Rocks' as well as appearing in music videos for international artists such as Ellie Goulding. Olivia has worked on multiple commercial TV shows and networks such as 'Alan Carr’s New Year Spectacular', 'Michael McIntyre’s Big Show', 'Surprise Surprise' and ‘The Voice’ shown on both BBC and ITV. Olivia danced for Dua Lipa, Jason Derulo, Haliee Steinfeld, Melanie Martinez, Akon and Dua LIPA.
Olivia was the assistant choreographer for music video 'Beyoncé Walk' by Dominic Lawson and also co-wrote and assisted choreography for 2016 commercial dance syllabus for the UK dance board the 'Associated Board of Dance'. Olivia has been working as assistant choreographer on Season 3 and 4 of Holland's hit TV show 'Dance Dance Dance'. Olivia is the current movement director for Mimi Webb and has danced professionally in her latest music video.
Amber Thomas Head of Vocational Studies, Centre Pointe Performing Arts College
Amber currently holds the role of Head of Vocational Studies at Centre Pointe Performing Arts after a career teaching and course coordinating at various Universities and Further Education establishments across the North West. She holds a BA (Hons) Degree in Dance, graduated as an ‘Outstanding’ teacher from a PGCE in Further Education and Training and achieved a Distinction in her MA Dance.
Amber is an established and experienced Further and Higher Education Lecturer, Programme Leader, Internal Verifier, Standards Verifier, Trainee Teacher Mentor and Course Validation Coordinator. Curriculum design and curriculum management is Amber’s area of expertise. Well praised and congratulated for her approach to teaching, learning and assessment, Amber employs humanist learning methods to develop autonomy and subject specific skills in today’s young adults. Amber’s passion for quality education shines through in her bubbly and tenacious personality and she is driven by the want to change our education systems for the better.
Caroline Smith Principal, Centre Pointe Performing Arts College
Caroline trained at the Royal Ballet School, White Lodge. Whilst there she performed with the Royal Ballet Company at the Opera House in both the Nutcracker and Anthony Dowell’s production of Swan Lake. She then completed her vocational training at the Central School of Ballet and Northern Ballet School. On graduation, Caroline then joined Andrew Lloyd Webber’s production of Phantom of the Opera in Hamburg (Germany) playing the principal role of Meg Giry. Caroline was a founding member of Ballet Ireland touring extensively across the country. She danced a large variety of roles including divertissements from Giselle, Coppelia, Nutcracker and Swan Lake. Caroline then went on to perform in the UK National Tour of Phantom of the Opera. Finally completing her career with the Welsh National Ballet Company “Ballet Gwent” . Whilst there she created the role of Gwendoline in “As You Like It”.
After completing teacher training at Northern Ballet School, ‘Miss Wright’ has enjoyed a very successful teaching career at many establishments including Northern Ballet School and Northern Ballet Theatre. Centre Pointe was then founded by Caroline in 1992 with the Vocational College commencing 2009.
Kimberly Holden Founder and Musical Director, MMY
Kimberly is a multi award-winning musical director specialising in working with young voices.
Kimberly has a Bachelor of Music degree and a PGCE, and as a trained cellist played professionally before moving into education, where she found her true passion for helping young people engage with music and the creative arts. During her 25 years teaching she spent many as Head of Year and Head of Performing Arts, adding drama facilitation to her CV. She found a specialism in working with young voices (enhanced through training with the Internationally acclaimed Dr Gillyanne Kayes and Jeremy Fisher of Vocal Process), and ensemble choral work. Kimberly has recently completed the Vocal Process accreditation program alongside 15 other global candidates from Australia, Netherlands, Germany, UK and Ireland and is a highly sought after vocal coach through her singing practice, Vocalise Academy for Young Voices, along with her husband Dave.
Nurturing talent and inspiring creativity are central to Kimberly and MMY’s ethos and the company has helped hundreds of talented young performers from across Greater Manchester grow and develop to pursue musical theatre as a passion.
A graduate of Salford University where he studied Popular Music and Recording, Dave is now an experienced music teacher. He has worked throughout the Manchester area over the last 18 years delivering classroom music to both secondary and primary age students.
Dave has trained with Vocal Process to a high level and is a highly sought after teacher at his singing practice, Vocalise Academy for Young voices, along side his wife Kimberly. Dave has clients in China and Australia for both acting and vocal tuition, whose he teaches online. Acting through song is Dave’s speciality, and he has enhanced his skills in Musical Theatre through training with iTheatrics. He has been director and workshop leader of Manchester Musical Youth for many years, with his youth productions achieving high acclaim.
